Each year, Abraham Lincoln's birthday coincides with the release of a number of new books on numerous aspects of the nation's sixteenth president. One of the more interesting titles published this year includes historian Kenneth W. Noe's, Abraham Lincoln and the Heroic Legend: Reconsidering Lincoln as a Commander in Chief.
Noe, the Draughon Professor of Southern History Emeritus at Auburn University, recently discussed his new book, which boldly questions the long-accepted notion that Lincoln was an almost-perfect commander in chief, more intelligent than his generals, in a virtual book launch by the Louisiana State University Press.
