Passing of Lincoln Scholar Dr. Wayne C. Temple (1924-2025)

It was with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of Dr. Wayne Calhoun Temple on March 31, 2025 at the age of 101. Dr. Temple, known by his friends and colleagues as "Doc," was one the nation's leading Lincoln scholars and a great friend of Lincoln Memorial University where he taught for nearly a decade and edited the Lincoln Herald, the oldest continually published scholarly journal devoted to the study of Lincoln and his era.

The Abraham Lincoln Center extends our sympathy to the family and friends of Dr. Temple at this time.
